The Lacandon Mayans live in the Peten region of Guatemala and parts of southern Mexico. Usually, they do not like their picture taken. They were never conquered by the Spanish and their lifestyles are very similar to the Nahuas(Aztecs) of Mexico. They live in encampments and hunt and fish. They also grow corn and other native vegetables. Linguists believe Lancandon version of the Mayan language is the closest of all to Classical Mayan.
